Whirlpool Corporation has heightened its activities for this summer, launching new products across five categories – refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens and water purifiers. The company has also increased its advertising and marketing spend to Rs 77 crore, up 10 per cent from 2007.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd has reported Q4 consolidated net profit of Rs 1.04 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2008. ZEEL’s Q4 consolidated revenues stand at Rs 5.26 billion. Zee News Ltd has reported Q4 net profit of Rs 153 million and standalone revenues of Rs 1.10 billion, up 59.7 per cent as compared to the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

The first day of the NAB Show 2008 clearly showed the focus that NAB is placing on content, and the technological side of broadcasting that the Association is so actively involved in. In addition to the keynote and the honouree sessions, the day saw the launch two new NAB Show offerings – the Content Theatre and Spotlight Series.

The pace is phenomenal but they have also dumbed down the content and moved away from news. At times viewers question whether Hindi news channels are news channels or something else! I call them low-cost reality channels. A few have been converted exactly into that.”
