MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based shared mobility platform Quick Ride for an undisclosed amount, according to media reports.

The acquisition marks MakeMyTrip’s entry into the shared mobility and ride-pooling segment, expanding its presence beyond travel bookings into daily urban and intercity commuting.

Quick Ride operates an asset-light mobility platform that enables users travelling on similar routes to share rides, making commuting more affordable and efficient. It has partnerships with enterprises, corporates, IT parks and business campuses to facilitate employee commute services.

Rajesh Magow, co-founder and group CEO of MakeMyTrip, was quoted as saying said the investment would give the company access to high-frequency daily commutes within cities, as well as intercity travel.

He reportedly added that MakeMyTrip would draw on its experience of building redBus in India and international markets to scale the business.
