Cinema advertising to generate $4.6bn globally in 2019: Report
The global cinema advertising market is growing faster than any other medium except internet, says the latest WARC Global Advertising Trends report
The global cinema advertising market is growing faster than any other medium except internet, according to a report by World Advertising Research Center (WARC). The growth rate is higher than all other traditional mediums such as TV, radio or billboards.
The latest WARC Global Advertising Trends report says cinema is expected to generate $4.6bn in advertising revenue around the world this year. This is an increase of 6.8% on 2018 and several percentage points ahead of the 4.6% forecast for all media.
Cinema, which claims a very small share of global ad spend at 0.7%, is expected to hold to hold steady in 2019, making it the only medium other than internet not to lose share.
China, meanwhile, is the largest cinema ad market globally, with RMB11.9bn (US$1.8bn) expected to be spent this year. This equates to a 47.3% share of global cinema ad spend when measured in Purchasing Power Parity terms. China is followed by the US as the second biggest market.
