The week that went by was filled with some interesting developments from the world of advertising and media. Here's an upshot.

It was an eventful week for exchange4media with two power-packed events hosted this week, which honoured professionals from the world of OTT and PR & Communications. The first edition of the e4m PLAY Streaming Media Awards 2020 Co-Powered By Zee5 & In Association with Myelin Foundry took place on 30th July 2020 and was streamed virtually. ZEE5, Applause Entertainment, and Madison Media took big honours at e4m PLAY Awards 2020. The first edition of the exchange4media PR and Corp Comm Women Achievers Summit and Awards 2020 was held virtually. Forty women leaders and six corporates were honoured at the event.

e4m has also launched India's first content upfront service to bring insights from markets to brands & agencies.

This week, many media houses and companies released their financials for the quarter. While Google reported a fall in ad revenue for the first time in its history, Facebook saw a 10% growth in YoY advertising revenue. Reliance Jio reported a net profit rise of 183% YoY. HT Media saw a 77% decline in ad revenue.

In appointment news, Posterscope India elevated Fabian Cowan as Country Head. Dentsu Aegis Network named Nishi Kant as the President for mcgarrybowen India. Ogilvy India promoted Hephzibah Pathak as Vice Chairperson and NEWJ named Siddharth Zarabi as its new Managing Editor. Paytm’s Puneet Jain joined HT Digital News as CEO. BARC India announced the resignation of COO Romil Ramgarhi this week.
