As the founder of Kaizzen, he has carved a niche for himself and established himself as a rising star in the industry. However, we all are aware of his serendipitous journey and immense efforts in the PR & Comms industry. But, not many of us are familiar with his extensive philanthropic efforts through Kaizzen Care.
In today’s Luminaries, we uncover the facets of Vineet Handa's journey that make him a luminary in the field of communications and social service. We’ll learn about his early days and entry into the PR field, the challenges he faced in establishing Kaizzen, the inception and impactful initiatives of Kaizzen Care, his views on Kaizzen's growth and future following recent acquisition, key lessons he learned throughout his career, and so much more.
His Journey to Entrepreneurship
Handa opened up about his entrepreneurial journey and shared the inspiration, challenges, and learnings that contributed to establishing him as one of the industry’s trusted names. For him, entrepreneurship wasn’t an impulsive call—it was a way of thinking and living that unfolded naturally over time.
According to him, Entrepreneurship isn’t necessarily about starting your own business. “You can be an entrepreneur even while working for someone else. It’s all about how you approach your work—taking ownership, driving innovation, and finding ways to improve outcomes. That’s how I’ve always viewed my professional journey,” he underscores. Whether working in a corporate role or leading his own venture, he puts his best foot forward by staying independent, and maintaining a clear vision for his growth as well as the clients.
Growing up in a business family, Vineet was no stranger to the grind and resilience that one requires to be an excellent entrepreneur. “I’ve seen my father work incredibly hard—leaving home early in the morning and coming back late at night. Watching him, I learned that running a business isn’t just about profits; it’s about discipline, persistence, and commitment. For me, this was never intimidating; it was a way of life.”
“When the time came for me to start Kaizzen, I didn’t feel like I was stepping into something unfamiliar. It felt like an organic progression, it was a natural next step,” he adds.
The Genesis of Kaizzen
The idea of Kaizzen grew out of Handa’s strong professional network and his passion for problem-solving. “A few of my friends and ex-colleagues who had moved into corporate communications roles stayed in touch with me. They often reached out for advice or support on certain projects, knowing my strengths and expertise. These interactions made me realize that I could offer value on a larger scale,” he briefs.
He says that their trust and belief in his abilities encouraged and gave him potential for creating something bigger. “I thought to myself, ‘Why not start something on my own?’ I had the skills, the drive, and, most importantly, the support of people who believed in my work. That’s how Kaizzen came into being,” Vineet acknowledges.
However, starting Kaizzen was not without its challenges, but his grounded perspective and determination helped him to navigate the hurdles with confidence. “The transition was smooth for me because I was already accustomed to the discipline required. My upbringing taught me that success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s a process of consistent effort and adaptability.”
Handa highlights that Kaizzen was built on the foundation of relationships and a promise to deliver value to the industry. “The trust my network placed in me became the cornerstone of Kaizzen. From the beginning, I focused on maintaining that trust by ensuring quality, reliability, and a personalized approach for every client,” he says.
For him, entrepreneurship didn’t take a dramatic leap of faith. It was a natural evolution—an alignment of skills, values, and opportunities that leads to something extraordinary. “Entrepreneurship, for me, is about mindset. It’s about taking ownership of your work, whether you’re running your own company or working for someone else. It’s about creating value, solving problems, and leaving a positive impact on people around you,” he believes.
The Inception of Kaizzen Care
Handa inspiration behind Kaizzen Care’s inception is rooted in his family values.
In a warm and compassionate tone, he narrates, “Growing up, my family was engaged in what I wouldn’t strictly call philanthropy but more of a community-oriented way of life. Every Sunday morning, we would prepare a massive container of khichri, and people would gather at our home. This was in a small town, and by 8:30 or 9:00 a.m., we would see a line forming outside. We used to feed almost 1,500 people each week. For me, it wasn’t new or extraordinary; it was simply how I learned to live, with a sense of responsibility toward others.”
However, he talked about another moment that defined his path of serving others. “When I joined Genesis, the way Prema structured the whole Genesis foundation, the work she did really inspired me. Her dedication and focus on making a meaningful impact were truly inspiring. It was clear to me then that one day, I wanted to create a platform where I could work closely with society and contribute in a way that not only makes a difference but also keeps me grounded, aware, and balanced. For me, it’s about staying connected to your roots while striving to uplift those around you. That's something that we do in Kaizzen care.”
His Contributions Through Kaizzen Care
Through Kaizzen Care, Handa leverages the power of small initiatives to drive greater changes. “Small is very powerful,” he asserts.
One of the impact initiatives he led was during the COVID-19 pandemic when Kaizzen Care partnered with Rise Against Hunger India and provided meals to 20,000 people. Today, Kaizzen Care supports children with autism and the elderly, two causes close to Handa’s heart. “These kids are amazing, beautiful, and special. Our work is focused on showcasing their strengths to the world through exhibitions and client introductions,” he explains. Through our small efforts, we aim to empower the children and uplift their families, whose lives revolve around ensuring their children’s well-being.
Handa spoke passionately about his family’s commitment to organ donation. “Organ donation is a spiritual act. After we pass, if something from our body can save someone’s life, it’s an extraordinary gift. It’s a different level of thought process, but if we can embrace it, we should,” he says.
On elderly care, Handa shared his concern about society’s neglect of older generations. To counter this, Kaizzen Care collaborated with the Earth’s Saviours Foundation and provided meals and companionship to 500-1000 elderly people. “It’s not just about serving food. Spending time with them gives perspective and grounds us,” he emphasises.
Moreover, through Kaizzen Care’s, he also works on unique, sustainable projects. One project he did was in collaboration with Avacayam, which works with both children and the elderly, particularly those who are neurodivergent or suffering from dementia. The organization collects flowers from temples and uses them to create organic Holi colors. Additionally, they use recycled materials, such as chip packets and milk cartons, to create threads that are then woven into bags. This year, we purchased Holi colors from them and distributed them across our locations, gifting them to our teammates as well. While this may seem like a small initiative, it makes a real difference in the lives of those involved,” Handa emphasizes.
Handa mentions, “Our efforts may not be grand-scale projects where we spend millions, but they have a significant impact on the communities we support. Sometimes, even spending as little as ten thousand rupees can help organizations continue their work.”
His views on the Role of PR in Promoting Social Initiatives
“Even though my work has inspired just one person, my job is done,” Handa says with conviction.
When asked how PR can play a role in promoting social initiatives among audiences, Vineet begins by sharing an example, “My feeling is that walking the talk is the best way to do it. You need to be a role model. The rest is all about storytelling. The best PR happens when people learn from what they see and follow it. For him, actions speak louder than words, and stories that come straight from heart resonate more with people.
Vineet shared a personal example to illustrate his point. “I didn’t read about Genesis Foundation to learn about their work. I saw Prema getting involved. I observed how she structured everything, how passionate she was about it. My learning came from witnessing her actions.”
Learnings from his professional journey
Discussing his learnings from previous roles and how they shaped both his personal and professional growth, Handa credits his first mentor, Samir Kale, as his first guru in PR. And says that he learned the essence of entrepreneurship from him. “I was hired by an agency based in Delhi, which had a very small team. Within a few months, my boss resigned, leaving me to manage the clients on my own. Samir gave me the opportunity and guidance to handle the clients, and that’s where I really learned the ropes,” he reveals. This sudden shift brought so many challenges but also accelerated his growth in the industry.
Handa spent two and a half years with CMCG, though he considers his time there to be equivalent to five years as he would often work 16-hour days, constantly pushing himself to research, stay updated with the latest news, and ensure that his work was of the highest quality. “While some people are able to achieve a lot in a short time, I wasn’t one of those individuals. I had to put in extra effort to learn and grow,” he explains.
Moreover, Handa further highlights the significance of learning in other roles he held in his journey. After CMCG, he joined Genesis, where he nurtures his skills in the industry. After -this, he also worked with TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute), a corp comm role, which was entirely different from his previous experience. “TERI was a fantastic experience for me. I had the privilege of working with some of the best researchers and directors in the world. So, sitting with them and understanding the nuances of the energy and environmental domains was an incredible learning opportunity. I think that has been a great journey and I'm really thankful to almighty for all of what I have learned and achieved so far,” he asserts.
His views on Kaizzen's Growth and Future Following Recent Acquisition
The news of Kaizzen’s acquisition has brought attention, with many curious ifs and buts about what lies ahead for the agency's future. To this, Handa acknowledges that he has sold the majority stake in Kaizzen, but he views this as a partnership rather than a full-scale acquisition. He further outlines the core aim of his decision, stating, “The idea is to grow Kaizzen to be one of the top players in the industry, and we’re already moving in that direction. We also want to do something that no other Indian independent agency has done – go global.”
Sharing his thoughts on the company's future following the announcement of acquisition, Handa says, “For me, nothing has changed. My role at Kaizzen remains the same, and in fact, I have become even more involved and active. The purpose of this partnership or you may say, acquisition is to empower Kaizzen to grow further. It gives me the strength and resources to grow, and it has certainly helped us multiply our efforts. In the last year, we've experienced notable growth of over 100%. If you want to achieve organic growth, you need to have the resources to back it up, and that's what this partnership has provided.”
One of the key milestones in Kaizzen’s expansion has been the opening of their Middle East office, followed by the launch of Kaizzen Global. Handa hinted at even more exciting developments are in the pipeline, though he preferred to keep further details under wraps for now. He also clears that now Kaizzen will always remain independent as a brand and will continue to maintain its own identity, even as it grows globally.
Three key lessons from his journey
Handa shares three key lessons from his professional journey which are patience, humility, and professional integrity.
He quotes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” explaining the importance of persistence and showing up consistently. He believes patience is vital for long-term success and urges individuals to keep working and trusting the process. Next, he values transparency and professionalism but places special importance on humility and kindness. Lastly, he believes that being authentic and giving one’s best effort is non-negotiable. He likened the role of a communications professional to that of an advocate. “We save and build reputations of the general public, much like an advocate does in court,” he explains.
