WPP has appointed former TikTok executive Rema Vasan as Global President, Social and Creator for WPP Open X. She announced her new role through a LinkedIn post.
In her new position, Vasan will lead capability transformation for The Coca-Cola Company, focusing on areas including social media, creators, culture, commerce, artificial intelligence (AI) and growth.
Sharing the news through a LinkedIn post, Vasan said, “I’m pleased to share that I’ve been retained by WPP to serve as Global President, Social and Creator for WPP Open X.” She highlighted the growing importance of social media and the creator economy in modern marketing. According to Vasan, social media is no longer just a channel on the sidelines of a marketing plan, while creators have evolved beyond being simply a media layer.
She also noted that as AI changes how people discover, create, make decisions and engage, creators are becoming increasingly important in shaping culture, building trust and driving relevance and growth. “The opportunity now is to build a more connected enterprise capability: one that can shape culture, build trust, drive commerce, and create brand and business impact at global scale,” she said.
Vasan added that she is looking forward to helping shape an ambitious vision, a cohesive operating model and the next phase of creator-driven marketing.
