RedBus ropes in LG’s LK Gupta as CMO

Pilani Soft Labs, the company behind RedBus bus ticketing service, has brought on board LK Gupta of LG Electronics India as Chief Marketing Officer to chart out its next stage of growth enabled by consumer marketing.
Gupta, who spent five years at LG rebuilding the brand to improve the aspirational quotient of LG, is no stranger to the digital world, having set up and executed the digital marketing blueprint for LG in the last few years, besides leading brand campaigns, CRM and insight-based marketing initiatives.
On joining RedBus, Gupta said, “Clearly, e-commerce and digital marketing are the next major frontiers that will spur consumer acquisition, engagement and retention. There’s tremendous potential in the growing, but still largely unorganised bus ticketing market. RedBus is ideally poised to be the category defining brand, and this is an exciting phase of the industry for a marketer to add value.”
Also joining Pilani Soft Labs as part of its corporatisation drive is Aashu Calapa as Chief HR Officer. Calapa comes with over 22 years of experience in HR, of which the first 11 years were spent at Wipro and the rest at ICICI First Source. Under his leadership, First Source was ranked amongst the top 25 best places to work for. He was also instrumental in integrating teams of six other acquired companies into First Source.

Pilani Soft Labs currently boasts of inventory of 1,200 bus operators and the company claims to have already sold more than 1 crore tickets since its inception six years ago, and currently sells 6 lakh tickets monthly.
