Nike India appoints Avinash Pant as Marketing Head
Avinash Pant takes over from Sanjay Gangopadhyay, who will now head marketing for Nike, South East Asia. Pant was previously with Walt Disney
Avinash Pant, former Executive Director - Marketing at Walt Disney, has joined Nike India to head the marketing division. Keerthana Ramakrishnan, PR Leader, Nike India Pvt Ltd has confirmed the development to exchange4media. Sanjay Gangopadhyay, who was the Marketing Head of the company before Pant, will now head marketing for Nike, South East Asia. Pant will be reporting to Tarun Puri, Managing Director, Nike India.
exchange4media has learnt that Pant had quit Walt Disney about two months ago. At Walt Disney, he was responsible for building the Disney brand by driving the company’s marketing strategy, coordinating all Disney business marketing efforts, and developing key global and local franchises in India. His duties also involved overseeing corporate communications, as well as the Creative Design Cell and Live Events function at Walt Disney. Pant had joined Disney from Coca-Cola India in May 2011, where he was Director - Marketing, Still Beverages.
Pant has spent more than 14 years working across various functions and has a vast experience in marketing and in building brands. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a PGDM, Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. After completing his course at IIMA, he joined Coca-Cola as Senior Brand Manager and worked in the space of strategic marketing, category and brand management, innovation, media planning and buying, consumer activation and sales.
