Diageo India ropes in Sameer Chugh as General Counsel, India

United Spirits Limited, which operates Diageo’s India business, has appointed Sameer Chugh as General Counsel, India, effective December 1, 2026.
Chugh will be designated as Senior Management Personnel.
Shobana Nikam, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, has stepped down from her role, citing personal circumstances.
Chugh joins Diageo India from online gaming platform Games24x7, where he served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel. He has more than three decades of experience across legal leadership, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory affairs, commercial transactions and litigation.
Earlier, Chugh served as Group General Counsel at the Bharti Group. His career also includes senior legal roles at British Telecom, Essar Group and Cummins.
