Akash Ambani named Managing Director of Jio Platforms

Jio Platforms has appointed Akash Ambani as Managing Director (MD) for a period of five years, as the company reportedly prepares to file its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for a potential public listing.
As per latest media reports, filings submitted to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 7 May stated that the appointment is subject to shareholder approval. The company’s board approved the decision at a meeting held on 9 April.
Akash Ambani joined the board of Reliance Jio Infocomm as a Non-Executive Director in October 2014 and has been serving as its Chairman since June 2022. He also sits on the board of Jio Platforms.
