Multi Screen Media has announced its latest channel offering – Sony Pal – a Hindi GEC that will go on air from September 1, 2014. Speaking to exchange4media, NP Singh, CEO, MSM said, “Sony Pal will complement our two existing GECs – Sony and Sab TV – and will help us access the entire cross-section of the GEC viewership.”
Singh further said, “We have shared the positioning of the channel with our advertisers and sponsors and the response has been very positive, but we will wait till after the launch on September 1 to sell ad space. All brands advertising on Hindi GECs are being targeted by Sony Pal and we are in talks with them.”
Commenting on Sony Pal’s positioning, Singh said that the channel is targeted at women in Hindi speaking markets and will carry a lot of inspirational programming and content for women. “Our objective is to empower them to achieve what they really desire for themselves and for their families and even for the society without transgressing the traditional boundaries of their homes or society,” he added.
Meanwhile, Singh is upbeat about Season 8 of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, which will go on air from August 18, 2014 on Sony. The channel will air the launch event for the show that was held in Surat on August 17.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the series ‘Yudh’, even as he admitted that series has not been able to attract mass audiences. “As far as I am concerned, I am very happy that we did ‘Yudh’, because a few years down the road when people will talk about television, they will talk about shows like ‘Yudh’. Our objective was to try and take a new initiative and step out to something bigger, better,” Singh maintained.
