Siti Cable streamlines billing to consolidate subscriber base

Bolstered by the momentum of the DAS (Digital Addressable System) mandate, Siti Cable claims to have installed around 2.5 million set top boxes (STBs) in its markets. In DAS Phase I cities, it has about 2 million and in Phase II, about 0.5 million digital cable subscribers in the cities where it is present.

With multi-fold increase in the number of subscribers in its Phase I cities, the company has provided an online application, ‘Own Your Customer’ (OYC) management system, to cable operators, which provides real time access to subscriber billings, payments, account statements, activation, deactivation, upgradation, downgradation, packaging and so on. It helps cable operators to collect the monthly subscription revenue subscriber wise for every STB installed.

The company estimates that by beginning of the next quarter, the subscriber wise billing and collection revenue will be in line once subscribers choose the channels/ packages of their choice and pay accordingly.

In its Phase II cities, Siti Cable will initiate genre wise analogue channels switch off as soon as the notification is received from the I&B Ministry, which will eventually help in augmenting the process of digitisation in the 16 cities where it is present. The pace of STB seeding in these cities is expected to go up in the coming days.
