Raghav Bahl, Founder of Network18 and who has recently founded digital media platform The Quint has entered into a joint venture with Da Vinci Media to launch the channel Da Vinci Learning in India. The kids channel aims to provide educational content to children and will be targeting 6-12 year olds and their parents.
The two in a 50:50 joint venture will provide the educational entertainment. Da Vinci Media will use the association with The Quint to amplify the channel’s presence across the country and develop relationships with media and advertisers. The move is aimed at developing a foothold in the country’s television market prior to the launch and to create awareness about the content it has to offer the Indian audience. Bahl is excited about the edutainment space and believes in potential of the combination of TV and digital medium.
Da Vinci had received the license from the Ministry of Information & Broadcast last week after it had applied for the license early in 2014. The channel is expected to be launched between July to September. The channel is present in more than 100 countries with a global subscriber base of 20 million.
Bahl in a media report said, “While Da Vinci Media brings expertise in the programming content, this JV helps us to further expand, drive synergies and diversify our media portfolio. The Quint will aid consumers in accessing Da Vinci Media's Da Vinci Learning channel's content through our distribution capacity.”
