Days after top broadcasters reduced a la carte prices of their popular channels during the festival season, the All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF) has also reportedly announced that all its members will also offer discount on network capacity fee (NCF) during festivals.

AIDCF is the apex body of multi system operators (MSOs) and have members such as DEN Networks, Hathway Cable and Siti Networks.

“AIDCF hopes that such promotional schemes from broadcasters will continue and we from AIDCF commit that we will ensure all such benefits are passed to the consumers. We also hope that new consumer offers will come which will help in boosting consumption,” the federation was quoted as saying said in a statement.

According to reports, all AIDCF members have agreed to offer 150 standard definition (SD) channels, instead of 100 SD channels, for the NCF of Rs 130. As per the new tariff order (NTO), distribution platform operators are allowed to charge NCF of Rs 130 for the first 100 channels and Rs 20 each for next block of 25 channels each.

The decision by AIDCF members resulted in savings of Rs 40 in NCF charges for cable TV customers. AIDCF said it is looking forward to similar consumer-friendly steps from its broadcaster partners.
