Independence Day event records 4.6 billion viewing minutes
The live telecast of Ayodhya Bhoomi Pujan on August 5 (week 31) garnered 7.3 billion viewing minutes (Timeband 10:44 – 14:11 has been considered for 195 channels; 12:38 – 12:48 considered for 3 channels (Zee Anmol, Zee TV and Zee TV HD). The event was viewed live by 163 million people.
The laying of the foundation stone for Ayodhya Temple by PM Narendra Modi was telecasted across 198 channels for 207 minutes as per the eleventh edition of BARC India and Nielsen report.
Also the Independence Day event 2020 garnered 4.6 billion viewing minutes which is the highest viewership in the last three years. As per the report, more viewers tuned in this year during the live event than 15 August of 2018 and 2019. A growth of 29% and 41% as compared to 2018 and 2019 respectively. It is also higher than all the previous addresses by PM Modi during COVID and the Leh address.
