Sun’s Q3 revenues grew 14 per cent as compared to the second quarter ended September 30, 2008. The company has attributed its success to the growing subscription revenue of the Sun DTH platform with the Sun TV Network being viewed by 3.30 million subscribers across the country. It is expected that revenues from DTH subscription will continue to be an important growth driver. The company has recorded a 5 per cent increase in cable revenue subscription vis-à-vis the second quarter.
The Sun Network also tasted success with two movies released by its division Sun Pictures – ‘Thenavattu’ and ‘Dindigul Sarathy’ – doing well in theatres. Sun Pictures is now making news by producing the costliest ever Indian movie, called ‘Endhiran (The Robot)’, starring Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, with music composed by AR Rahman.
