Rajesh Rai, elder brother of Bharat Express Chairman Upendra Rai passed away in Delhi on Saturday after suffering a heart attack. He breathed his last at Moolchand Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.

According to family sources, Rajesh Rai had been unwell for some time and was admitted to the hospital. He suffered a heart attack on Saturday morning and could not be revived. His death has cast a pall of gloom over the media fraternity and his hometown in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh.

Rajesh Rai hailed from Sherpur Kala village in Mohammadabad Tehsil and was widely respected for his simplicity, generosity and commitment to social service. He maintained a long association with Sahara India Pariwar and was known for his efforts to support community development and rural upliftment.

Colleagues, journalists, social workers and several public representatives have expressed their condolences and paid tribute to his life of service. The last rites will be performed on 27 October in his ancestral village in Ghazipur.
