BARC week 22: Dangal TV continues to lead across genres

Post elections, Hindi news channels have witnessed a drop in viewership

BARC has released the Week 22 data for Television imprints and there have been some noticeable changes. 

News channels have seen a significant drop this week as the elections are over. In the Hindi genre (U+R), while Aaj Tak still rules, the impressions have gone down from 335841 in week 21 to 180445 impressions in week 22. ABP News which was on the second spot on week 21 has dropped to number 5 with 118246 impressions. The channel had scored 243653 impressions on week 21.

As for English news channels (U+R), interestingly, they have seen a spike in viewership. CNN News 18 has moved up to the first spot from fifth with 2173 impressions in week 22. In week 21, the channel had clocked 772 impressions. Republic TV has slipped to the second spot but numbers have gone up from 1414 to 1827 impressions.

In the Top 10 channels list, Dangal TV is still on top with 884884 impressions. Sun TV, which had exited from the list last week, has re-entered and that too in the second spot with 765397 impressions. Big Magic has slipped to the third spot with 732325 impressions. Another return to the list has been Star Maa on the fourth spot with 643989 impressions. Star Plus, which was on number 3, slipped to number 5 with 641814 impressions. ZEE TV has seen the maximum drop as it moved down to number 6 from number 4 in week 21 with 628588 impressions.

In the top 5 programme category, there have been no major changes. Kundali Bhagya takes the top spot with 12428 impressions. Kumkum Bhagya is on number 2 with 11598 impressions and Super Dancer Chapter 3 is on the third position with 9914 impressions. Kasauti Zindagi Kay is on the fourth spot with 9719 with Naagin-3 on the fifth with 9618 impressions.

Urban market
Star Plus is on the top for several weeks now and this time it has clocked 406557 impressions. Colors is on the second spot with 400908 impressions and Sony Entertainment Television is on number 3 with 375439 impressions. Sony Sab and Zee TV are on the third and fourth positions with 358546 and 348252 impressions respectively.
In the programme category, Kundali Bhagya takes the top spot with 7122 impressions. Super Dancer Chapter 3 is on the second spot with 6890 impressions followed by Kumkum Bhagya with 6470 impressions, Kasauti Zindagi Kay with 6041 impressions and The Kapil Sharma Show with 6009 impressions.

Rural Market
In this category too, Dangal TV is on top again with 679071 impressions. Big Magic takes the usual second spot with 581652 impressions. Zee TV is third again with 259801 impressions followed by Star Plus with 220789 impressions and Colors with 198832 impressions. 

In the top 5 programme category, Dangal TV’s Mahima Shanidevi Ki is on top with 5981 impressions followed by Kundali Bhagya with 5306 impressions. Dangal TV’s ‘Baba Aiso Var Dhundo’ is third with 5198 impressions.  Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is on fourth with 5128 impressions. Big Magic’s Paramavatar Shree Krishna takes the fifth spot with 4452 impressions.
