Thayil Jacob Sony George, the renowned journalist and writer, better known as TJS George, passed away on October 3, at the age of 97.
George began his journalism career in 1950 at The Free Press Journal in Mumbai (then Bombay). Over the years, he worked with several major publications, including the International Press Institute, The Searchlight, and the Far Eastern Economic Review. He later went on to become the Founding Editor of Asiaweek in Hong Kong.
In his later years, George served as Editorial Advisor at The New Indian Express. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2011.
