The print industry seems to have hit a trough in recent times. Close on the heels of the news regarding The Times of India shutting down its Crest edition, there are now media reports regarding Outlook Group closing down three of its international titles – ‘People’, ‘Marie Claire’ and ‘Geo’.
The news has come as a surprise for many in the Indian magazine industry, especially since niche magazines have been doing well in the last few years. In fact, the last couple of years have seen the launch of several new niche magazine titles in the country targetted at specific groups.
