Mathrubhumi to roll out an edition from Bahrain in September
Close on the heels of launching an edition in Alappuzha, Mathrubhumi, one of Kerala’s leading dailies, is planning to roll out an edition from Bahrain in September 2010. The daily is hopeful of selling a reasonable number copies in Bahrain and plans to monetise the edition in Bahrain through advertisements.

Speaking to exchange4media, Shreyams Kumar, Director, Electronics Media, Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Co, said, “We have a large number of Malayali communities in Bahrain and we hope to do well there. We already have a strong base there and it’s only a matter of strengthening it and expanding it more.”

Mathrubhumi launched its 14th edition in Alappuzha on May 30, 2010. Defence Minister AK Antony had dedicated the edition. Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Director MP Veerendrakumar presided over the launch function. Opposition leader Oomen Chandy presented a painting depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Mathrubhumi to the Editor M Kesava Menon.
The company is printing about 90,000 copies for the Alappuzha edition. The new edition is priced at Rs 4, on par with other editions of Mathrubhumi in Kerala. Alappuzha edition is Mathrubhumi’s tenth edition in Kerala. The daily has four editions outside Kerala – Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore.
