Lokmat Times to enter Nashik on Republic Day
This is the English daily’s third edition in Maharashtra after the Aurangabad and Nagpur editions
In line with its focus on strengthening its foothold in the regional areas of Maharashtra, Lokmat Group is launching its English daily, Lokmat Times in Nashik this Republic Day, January 26, 2013. The paper, which has a content tie-up with The Asian Age, already has two editions in Aurangabad and Nagpur.
Regional is the new national now for many advertisers and even readers. The year 2012 witnessed several newspapers such as The Times of India and Sakal Times entering the regional markets.
Speaking to exchange4media, Mandir Tendolkar, Vice President, Communication, Lokmat Group said, “We are looking at reaching the masses who aspire to read English, but probably require simple readable English. These readers will be from households that subscribe to a Marathi newspaper and who also want an English newspaper.”
The first issue aims to highlight Nashik in all its glory with the theme ‘B Positive (B+)’, while drawing attention to the city’s appealing assets, including its temples, vineyards, food and industries. The inaugural issue will also boast of interviews of the who’s who of the city.
Lokmat has 11 Marathi editions covering entire Maharashtra and Goa. It is published from Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik, Kolhapur, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Akola and Panaji.
The group also publishes Hindi daily Lokmat Samachar from Nagpur, Aurangabad, Akola, Kolhapur, Jalgaon and Pune, and has nine sub-editions. Lokmat Samachar is also circulated in parts of Madhya Pradesh and some other neighbouring states.
