Dunzo Donald Trump Moment Marketing

Is there anything at all that can escape the creative eye of brands on social media? Definitely not if you are POTUS or for that matter the Indian PM mispronouncing famous names while addressing a 100,000 strong audience in a stadium. While the rest of India was watching it on their TV sets. Brands on social media were bound to have some fun and they did. At least Burger King and Dunzo did, after all, Donald Trump will not be caught saying Sooo-chin, V-rot or chiwala again.

For the uninitiated, here is a little background, the President of the United States Donald Trump who was in India for a two-day visit, got caught in a whirlwind of mispronouncing Indian names at the 'Namaste Trump' event in Ahmedabad on Monday. For example, while talking about cricketing legends, Trump said, "This is the country where the people cheer on some of the world's greatest cricket players from Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli.”

Sachin, however, turned into "Sooo-chin" and the Indian cricket team captain became "Vi-rot”. Perhaps, it is best left to the brands to spell out the rest. Here is how Burger King leveraged the moment.
