On election day in Maharashtra, some Mumbaikars were surprised to find tinday (round gourd) in their Swiggy Instamart packages. Along with the unsolicited freebie came a sharp reminder: “Didn’t choose tinday but stuck with tinday? That’s what happens when someone else makes the choice for you.” The quick commerce platform used this quirky gesture to urge citizens to vote and take charge of their choices.
Recipients wasted no time sharing snaps of the unexpected freebies on social media, applauding the clever wordplay and its subtle yet impactful political message.

While Swiggy Instamart urged Mumbaikars to step out and vote, the National Restaurant Association of India rolled out a delicious incentive for Mumbai and Pune voters to step up and make their voices heard. As part of the ‘Democracy Discount’ initiative, over 100 restaurants in Mumbai and Pune are offering voters with inked fingers a 20% discount on dining bills on November 20 and 21.

Several participating restaurants under NRAI, like Nara Thai India, CinCin Mumbai and Steps Cafe Brandra took to social media to promote the ‘Democracy Discount’ and encourage inked diners to celebrate with them after voting.
Prashant Corner, a popular eatery in Thane, also announced special discounts on select products that voters can avail upon displaying their inked fingers.
These initiatives demonstrate how brands can creatively inspire civic responsibility. By engaging citizens with humour and meaningful incentives, brands did their bit to foster participation, turning the act of voting into a moment of connection and celebration.
