The Delhi government has hired a social media agency to strengthen its efforts to present the capital city as a tourist friendly destination on social media sites. This move is part of an overall strategy to promote tourism in Delhi, which also includes producing 5 short films and 6 radio jingles.
According to officials, although the city has numerous tourist sites and attractions, it was still necessary to promote these sites on social media, which reach millions of people.

After the AAP government came into power in Delhi, it sought inputs from officials on transforming the city, with an aim to encourage tourists to visit and stay in the capital, popularly known as the heritage city.
According to sources, the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat have all taken a proactive role in promoting tourism in their states through social media.
