Baba Ramdev's 10x growth formula for Patanjali & desi corporates
The Yoga Guru says successful business is all about three critical aspects-honest efforts, trust and loyalty; envisions a tenfold growth for his company in the next three to five years
After giving big corporates a run for their money with his brand Patanjali, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev envisions a tenfold growth for the company in the next three to five years.
Speaking at the ongoing Women Economic Forum in New Delhi, Baba Ramdev shared his vision for Patanjali and stated how the home-grown company has successfully managed to challenge some well established brands in the country. Stating that Patanjali was not driven by profits alone, he said, “Patanjali currently stands at Rs 10, 561 crore and within three to five years, it will touch the Rs 1 lakh crore mark and we are determined to make it happen. Moreover, our ultimate goal is not profit, but charity, and we will continue with this mission and dedicate 100 per cent of our profits towards this cause.”
Baba Ramdev also spoke about the need to look beyond stereotypes while setting up successful business establishments. Sharing the experience of his Patanjali story, he added, “I think it is time to rethink the way we do business. So far, we have believed that fancy degrees from Harvard, Stanford etc., are a must to establish successful businesses, but Patanjali has challenged all business myths. I studied in the Hindi medium and look how far we have come without those fancy titles.”
During his speech at the forum, Baba Ramdev also reiterated how upholding core values was critical to the success of any new venture and how new businesses need to adhere to it. “For all those asking for business formulas, my advice is simple: successful business is all about three critical aspects—honest efforts, trust and loyalty. If Patanjali has become such a big brand, the credit goes to our business values which we have never compromised. We have always believed that our customers are the most valued part of our business journey and that is the reason we have managed to come so far.”
Terming women as “natural leaders who can do better business than men”, Ramdev stated that it was about time that the country provided equal opportunities and created a more level playing field for them. “To all those who ask me about women in leadership roles, I will say never underestimate the business acumen of women. They are natural leaders and can do better business than men if given an equal platform and opportunities, and it is high time India started doing that.”
Taking a pot-shot at celebrity endorsements, especially the ones showcasing half-clad women, Baba Ramdev said that Patanjali was turning around this trend by featuring half-clad men instead. “Sometimes people ask me why I don’t feature Bollywood celebrities to promote my products, my answer to them is: Patanjali does not believe in showcasing half-clad women as brand ambassadors, especially when half-clad men like me can do it more efficiently,” he added.
