Baba Ka Dhaba becomes the new marketing hotspot for brands
Here are some instances of brands vying for some marketing real estate at the Dhaba
As they say , good marketers never lose a single moment to get customer attention. Something similar is being witnessed at the (now famous) Baba Ka Dhaba in New Delhi.
Social media, which most of us thought was the playground for trolls, has proved that if used in the right way it can create a lasting impact and become the real changemaker.
Recently when a widely shared video of a tearful aged owner of a small eatery in South Delhi talking about how he had no customers went viral, it triggered an overwhelming support across social platforms.
In less than 24 hours not only did the footballs at the Dhaba increase, a number of brands went out of their way to support the old couple.
Now Baba Ka Dhaba seems to have become the new marketing hotspot for brands. Here are some of instances of brands vying for some space at the Dhaba:
Zomato was one of the first among brands to ride this marketing opportunity. While extending its support, the food delivery player said “Baba Ka Dhaba is now listed on zomato and our team is working with the elderly couple there to enable food deliveries. Thank you to the good people of the internet for bringing our attention to this.”
This was followed by PepsiCo which went ahead and branded the food stall. Pepsico also gifted the old couple a beverage cooler along with free stocks of beverages. It is reported that the company has also sent rations for Baba’s stall and his home.
Paytm also joined in to show their appreciation. They shared, “Baba, keep going strong! India’s best wishes are with you.
The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) pledged to upgrade the infrastructure of Baba Ka Dhaba to make it COVID-compliant.
Dating app Tinder also shared a tweet from their official Twitter account to urge others to choose the eatery for their next date.
Others brands that have supported Baba ka Daba include: Airtel, MobiKwik and PhonePe
And this seems to be just the beginning.
