While Marathi and English dailies have been warmly accepted by the readers in Goa; fortnightly magazines are also getting more readers. Meanwhile, monthlies those are focused on Auto industry like Auto India and Overdrive have been able to attract more readers in a year.
The state is still being dominated by the Marathi readers as any Marathi daily gets an AIR of 5.11 lakh, a growth of 27.43 per cent, compared to corresponding period last year. With an AIR of1.75 lakh, Lokmat has emerged as the most read daily of the state. It is being closely followed by Gomantak which has been able to garner an AIR of 1.69 lakh, down from 1.72 lakh last year. Moving further, Marathi dailies Pudhari and Loksatta both have lost almost 37000 readers combined registering AIR of 15,000 and 5000, respectively.
Meanwhile, in English newspaper genre, with an AIR of 1.20 lakh, O Herald O is the most read newspaper of the state. It is followed by the Time of India as it gets an AIR of 69000; growth of 9.52 per cent. Dailies, the Indian Express and the Economic Times, have seen a decline in AIR numbers as they reported AIR of 31000 and 15000; losing 13000 average issue readers combined, in a year.
While the fate of monthly and weekly magazines remains unchanged, fortnightly magazines have charted growth in their AIR in Goa. Magazines those include Filmfare, Women’s Era, Outlook Business and Business Today, have together added 23000 average issue readership in a year.
