IRS 2010 Q4: Steep decline for TOI and HT in J&K
Three out of top four dailies in Jammu and Kashmir have seen double digit growth in AIR in IRS 2010 Q4. However, English dailies HT and TOI have seen a nearly 40 per cent drop in readership.

While Any English dailies genre is growing in Jammu and Kashmir at almost 11 per cent in the fourth Quarter results of IRS as compared to Q3, Both Hindustan Times and The Times of India have been losing readership during the same period. Meanwhile, barring a few, Hindi dailies have performed well in the state in the last quarter of 2010.
English newspaper Daily Excelsior has seen double digit growth in Q4 at 20.21 per cent. Contrary to this, The Times of India has seen de-growth of 37.50 per cent in Q4 as against Q3 results. Hindustan Times has seen a negative growth of 42.86 per cent for the same period.
Amar Ujala remains the most read Hindi daily of the state, but with AIR of 1.05 lakh in Q4, the daily has seen decline of 4.55 per cent in readership as compared to Q3 results.
On the other hand, Punjab Kesari and Dainik Jagran have witnessed double digit growth in AIR in IRS 2010 Q4, as compared to Q3 results. With an AIR of 49,000, Punjab Kesari has registered a positive growth of 22.50 per cent, while Dainik Jagran has witnessed a growth of 19.23 per cent with an AIR of 31,000 in Q4.
