Cartoon Network will launch three new franchises—Power Zone, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and Acme Hour—on April 23, May 4 and June 1, respectively. All the new franchises would be available in both Hindi and English. The network plans to re-launch its Toon Tamasha block as a weekend franchise. Toon Tamasha will be offered in three languages: English, Hindi and Tamil.
While launching the new programmes Cartoon Network is renewing the localisation initiatives with language as the centrepiece with the objective of maintaining a leadership position, increasing viewership and growing our ratings.
Power Zone, the first of the series in the new programming block, is an action-packed franchise that has villains who are vanquished and super-heroes who reign supreme. The franchise is sponsored by Kissan Fruit Kick and co-sponsored by VGP Amusement Park and Funskool. Shows in Power Zone include GI Joe, Swat Kats, Batman: The Animated Series, The New Adventures of Captain Planet, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and the Centurions.
Cartoon Cartoon Friday will be a two-and-a-half-hour long animation extravaganza sponsored by Britannia and co-sponsored by Pizza Corner. It will be featuring the original cartoons of the channel.
