Winners of 11th Mirchi KAAN Awards declared

Advertising fraternity came together to celebrate excellence in radio advertising at the 11th Mirchi KAAN Awards.

The host for the evening was stand-up comedian, Varun Thakur. Some of the big names of the ad and corporate world such Josy Paul, Pops, Sajan Raj Kurup, Rekha Nigam, Sunil Lulla, Sanjay Tripathi, Gaurav Seth and Sripad Nadkarni were present at the awards.

Scarecrow Communications emerged as the ‘Agency of the Year’, with a total of 6 awards, including 5 Gold and 1 Bronze. JWT Mumbai bagged 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze awards. Linen- A Lintas Group Company, walked away with a total of 11 awards, including 4 silver and 7 bronze.

Last year’s agency of the year, Ogilvy & Mather, bagged 2 silver and 1 bronze award.

Scarecrow Communications also won the ‘Crystal Award’ and ‘Best Radio Creative of the Year – Client’s Choice’ for the Nitco Tiles radio spot captioned ‘Pinkesh’. Kapil Tammal, Manish Bhatt, Raghu Bhat and Sarvesh Raikar walked away with the ‘Radio Writer of the Year’ award.

NITCO Ltd. was honoured with the title of ‘Client of the Year’.

Sounds Good Production won ‘Excellence in Production’ while Madison Media Pinnacle won the ‘Best use of Radio as a Medium’ for Cadbury Celebrations – Songs for Sisters campaign.

At a regional level, Radio Mango won 2 bronze awards.

The Mirchi KAAN Awards was introduced in 2004 to celebrate creativity in the challenging field of radio advertising. The 11th edition of the awards, centred on the theme of ‘Mute the Clichés’, and attracted over 250 entries from 36 agencies, across 20 categories.

GG Jayanta, National Marketing Head, ENIL (Radio Mirchi), said, “We are extremely delighted to see the turnout of our initiative in acknowledging the potential of radio. The surge in participation is a testament to the acceptance of radio as an important medium in creative communication. This year we have opened the way for regional entries too. This year’s jury included eminent creative personalities such as Josy Paul, Prathap Suthan, Agnello Dias, Anurag Agnihotri, Priti Nair, Amit Akali, Manohar Nayak, Tista Sen, Rekha Nigam , Prateek Bharadwaj & Tapas Sen

The award ceremony  will be telecast on Saturday 26th April at 8pm and the repeat on Sunday, 27th April at 2:30pm only on ET Now.

The 3rd edition of the India International Brand Summit 2023 held at ITC Maurya, New Delhi brought together industry stalwarts and advertising professionals to engage in discussions on themes curated to address the current market realities.

The leading companies such as Microsoft, HMD global (The Home of Nokia Phones), Airtel, Patanjali Ayurveda, Lenovo, Schneider Electric, HP, Home Credit India, including major advertising agencies such as Magnon Group, eg+ Worldwide, and TBWA\India participated in the event. The central focus of the event revolved around shaping the growth agenda for the companies and individuals in the months and years to come.

With the objective of adapting marketing narratives to shifting dynamics and capturing fleeting consumer attention, the summit commenced with the first panel discussion on "Creator Economy & Social Commerce: Winning Customers Through Content Marketing." The panel featured distinguished speakers such as Praveen Rao (Director - Marketing, SAP), Tathagat Jena (Marketing Head - India Region, HMD global, The Home of Nokia Phones), Rahul Dutta (Country Head - Microsoft Surface), and Vivek Merani (Managing Director, Magnon eg+).

The second panel delved into the topic of "Building B2C Brands for a Global Audience: Localisation for a Hyperconnected World" with renowned panelists including Anita Nayyar (COO - Media, Branding & Communications, Patanjali Ayurveda), Lloyd Mathias (Angel Investor), Saikat Sinha (APAC - Consumer Marketing Lead, Lenovo), Ashish Tiwari (Chief Marketing Officer, Home Credit India), and Naved Aqueel (Managing Director, Magnon Sancus).

The final discussion centred around “Creative agencies, Production agencies, Digital agencies, Media agencies, and Influencer agencies: Integration Challenge for the Contemporary Marketer”. The panel consisted of esteemed speakers such as Archana Aggarwal (VP - Media, Airtel), Ranjeev Vij (Executive Director, TBWA\India), Jonathan Leck (Global Director - Digital Innovation, eg+ Worldwide), and Nitin Naresh (Managing Director, Magnon Designory).

Renowned Theatre Actor And Director Aamir Raza Husain Passes Away

He was also the Creative Director of Stagedoor theatre company established in 1974, which has staged over 91 productions, and more than 1,100 performances

Aamir Raza Husain, noted theatre actor and director, known for his large outdoor stage productions like The Fifty Day War, based on the Kargil War and The Legend of Ram is no more.

He was also the Creative Director of Stagedoor theatre company established in 1974, which has staged over 91 productions, and more than 1,100 performances

Born in an Awadhi aristocratic family of Mumtaz Husain and Kaniz Mehida in Lucknow, he attended Mayo College, Ajmer at the age of 10 in 1968, and after he finished his schooling he went on the study history at St. Stephen's College, Delhi.  He acted in various college plays working with directors like, Joy Michael, Barry John and Marcus Murch.

Husain was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001, by the Government of India for his great work.

GJEPC, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India is the apex body driving India's export-led growth in the gem and jewellery sector, since 1966.

IIGJ presently has 5 state-of-the-art campuses in Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Varanasi and Udupi offering degree, diploma & certification programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as corporate training.

The Indian gem & jewellery exports stood at USD 39.15 billion in 2021-22, contributes 7 per cent to India's GDP and employs around 5 million people.

Debasish Biswas brings on board 31 years of professional experience in banking, telecom, insurance and media sectors, including 17 years in leadership roles as VP, Country Head and CEO in the education and training industry across national & international markets.
