Vodafone India has reported service revenue of £1,024 million on Q3 FY12, as against £963 million in Q3 last year, a growth of 6.3 per cent. Overall, India showed continued strong revenue growth at 20 per cent, even as Vodafone’s Europe service revenue decreased by 1.7 per cent.
India’s service revenue growth was driven by an increase in the customer base, continued growth in incoming and outgoing voice minutes and 46.4 per cent growth in data revenue. As of December 31, 2011, data customers totalled 31.2 million. Whilst the market remains highly competitive, the effective rate per minute increased slightly compared to Q2 following the penetration of recent price rises into the customer base.
Following the launch of commercial 3G services in February 2011, 3G was available to Vodafone customers in 683 towns and cities across 20 circles as of December 31, 2011.
