The second edition of The Hindu BusinessLine’s Changemaker Awards will celebrate individuals, entities and organisations, who through their work, have contributed to materially improving the condition of society, economy and the planet.

The awards span all categories from individuals to corporates, NGOs, social enterprises and even the government, and are given out in the categories – Changemaker of the Year, Young Changemaker, Changemaker (Digital Transformation), Changemaker (Financial Transformation), Changemaker (Social Transformation). In addition, the jury may decide to also award the title of Iconic Changemaker to an individual or entity with a lifetime track record of bringing about positive change.

“The awards resonate deeply with our core values of ethics, fairness and service to society. We believe “being good” and “doing good” are intrinsic to “doing well”. Credibility is a core value at BusinessLine and we are grateful to our knowledge partners – the Ashoka Foundation, Deloitte and Niti Consulting – for working with us to ensure these awards set a benchmark for transparency and credibility,” says R. Srinivasan, Editor, BusinessLine.

To qualify, a nominee should have brought about a welcome change in the area of operation or sphere of influence and the change so brought about must have materially impacted society at large/organisation in a positive manner. Also, the change (or the new business model) should be sustainable and easily adaptable.

A rigorous process has been put in place to review the nominations as well as shortlist these change makers and the winner is finally selected by an independent jury of eminent personalities from corporate and social fields.

Winners in the first edition of the awards last year included National Payments Corporation of India (Changemaker of the Year), Dr Rani and Abhay Bang (Iconic Changemaker), Srikanth Bolla (Young Changemaker), Bandhan Bank (Changemaker - Financial Transformation), ZMQ Development (Changemaker - Digital Transformation) and Sridhar Vembu (Changemaker - Social Transformation).

The awards will be given away early next year.
