Tata Elxsi launches design contest Ignite 2012
With the theme ‘Designing for Emerging Markets’ this year, the contest provides a platform for budding designers to develop ideas that will reshape the future
Tata Elxsi, part of the $83.3 billion Tata Group, has announced the launch of ‘Ignite 2012’, a design contest that endeavours to provide a platform for future designers to develop ideas that will reshape the future. The contest is part of ‘connect D’, an annual event organised by Tata Elxsi to commemorate World Industrial Design Day.
The theme of the contest this year is ‘Designing for Emerging Markets’. It intends to address how design can provide innovative solutions to address the inherent challenges and opportunities that exist amongst developing economies of the world.
Design students pursuing their full-time Graduate / PG courses can participate in the contest. Students can submit their entries in any of the two design disciplines of Product Design and Visual Design across the following categories – Healthcare, Interactive Devices and Bottom of the Pyramid.
Besides cash prizes, winners will also get a chance to pursue an internship at Tata Elxsi as part of their course curriculum.

We strongly believe that this will provide the ideal platform to nurture, develop and promote young talent in the country. This contest will help students leverage their creativity and we look forward to innovative and indigenous ideas from them, especially for an emerging market like India.”
