Nepal is currently surrounded by fire and anger. The protests that erupted in many parts including the capital Kathmandu have taken a violent turn. The situation is out of control with clashes, arson and vandalism taking place at various places. So far, many people have died and a large number of people have been injured. The protesters are targeting government buildings as well as private properties in anger.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, the protesters also set on fire the hotel in Kathmandu where ABP News' Executive Editor and Senior Anchor Jagvinder Patial was staying for coverage. It is a matter of luck that when this incident happened, Patial was not in his hotel, he had gone out for coverage. However, in this fire, all his belongings and important documents including passport were burnt to ashes. Currently, Patial and the cameraman who had gone with him for coverage have shifted to another hotel.
According to reliable sources, Jagvinder Patial had reached Nepal with his cameraman on Monday night for coverage. He was staying at Hilton Hotel after reporting here late night.
On Tuesday morning, Patial again went out for coverage with his cameraman. Meanwhile, violence intensified in the capital and protesters set fire to many major buildings including the Hilton Hotel.
This hotel of around 17-18 floors is said to be owned by former Nepalese Prime Minister and Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba and his son. Hence, the angry protestors directly targeted it.
Let us tell you that Jagwinder Patial is a big name in the world of journalism. During his experience of about 27 years, he has fearlessly reported from war-torn areas, political crises and natural disasters. He has received prestigious awards like Ramnath Goenka Journalism Award and Balraj Sahni National Award.
