- Businessman Mohit Kamboj, his minor daughter Mishka Kamboj, and Aspect Group of Companies issued a legal notice to 4PM News Network and Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Sharma, claiming defamation from content published on June 30, 2026.
- The notice alleges that the content contained false claims about Kamboj's influence in Maharashtra's government and unsubstantiated allegations regarding his daughter's marital status, which could harm her reputation.
- Kamboj's notice demands the removal of the content across various platforms, an unconditional public apology, and a commitment to refrain from similar allegations in the future, warning of potential civil and criminal action if not complied with.
- The legal notice also seeks ₹1,000 crore in damages for defamation and reputational harm, and indicates that complaints may be filed with various regulatory bodies.
Businessman Mohit Kamboj, along with his minor daughter Mishka Kamboj and Aspect Group of Companies, has served a legal notice on 4PM News Network and its Editor-in-Chief, Sanjay Sharma, alleging that defamatory and factually incorrect content published on the platform has damaged their reputation.
The legal notice, dated 2 July 2026, relates to content published on YouTube, Instagram and X on 30 June 2026. According to the notice, the programmes and social media posts contained false and unsubstantiated allegations about Kamboj, his family and his alleged influence over government decisions and financial transactions in Maharashtra.
The notice rejects the claims as baseless, fictional and malicious, stating that no documentary evidence or credible facts were presented to support the allegations.
A key objection raised in the notice concerns references to Kamboj's 16-year-old daughter, Mishka. It alleges that the content falsely claimed she was married and that the purported wedding was attended by Bollywood personalities and political leaders. The notice states that Mishka is a school student, unmarried and has no connection with politics or public life. It argues that such claims could adversely affect the reputation and well-being of a minor.
The notice also disputes claims portraying Mohit Kamboj as an influential figure in Maharashtra's political and administrative affairs. It states that he has no association with any political party, government department or administrative decision-making process.
According to the notice, the same allegations were later shared through Instagram Reels and posts on X, increasing their reach. It further states that the YouTube video had received around 107,000 views at the time the notice was issued.
The legal notice demands that 4PM News remove the YouTube video, Instagram Reel, X posts, related clips, thumbnails and promotional material within 48 hours. It also seeks an unconditional public apology, a written undertaking that similar allegations will not be repeated, and the preservation of all records and source material related to the content.
The notice warns that failure to comply within the stipulated time could result in both civil and criminal proceedings. It also states that complaints may be filed with the cyber crime authorities, the Press Council of India, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA) and other relevant bodies.
In addition, the notice states that legal proceedings will seek damages of ₹1,000 crore for the alleged defamation and reputational harm suffered by Mohit Kamboj, his daughter Mishka and Aspect Group of Companies.
