IIMCAA Awards honours journalistic excellence at 9th edition of event

The IIMC Alumni Association announced the winners of the 9th edition of the IIMCAA Awards during its annual function 'Connections' in Delhi. Goonj founder Anshu Gupta and author-journalist Nilesh Mishra were honoured with the 'Alumni of the Year' award. BBC Hindi's Sarvapriya Sangwan received the 'Journalist of the Year' award, which included a cash prize of Rs 1.50 lakh, a trophy and a citation. Around 80 alumni who graduated from IIMC 25 years ago were also honoured with 'Silver Jubilee Honours' at the ceremony.
Under the Committee Awards, Prof. Ashok Ogra from Delhi, Jahnabi Phukan from Guwahati, Sujata Sabnis from Pune, Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh from Tezpur and Dr. Medini Prasad Roy from Delhi were honoured with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award'. The 'Public Service Award' was given to SSP Kishore Kaushal from Jamshedpur and social worker Aditya Vardhan from Gaya. The 'Connecting Alumni of the Year' award was presented to Ketan Tanna from Maharashtra, Sudhanshu Kumar Patro from Odisha and Marinder Mishra from Uttar Pradesh, while the 'Connecting Chapter of the Year' award was given to IIMCAA Gujarat Committee.
Apart from this, Santosh Kumar Valmiki from Uttar Pradesh, Kalyan Ranjan and Nitin Pradhan from Delhi, Alice Guram from Punjab, Brajesh Kishore from Bihar, Krishna Pophale from Maharashtra and Byomkesh Biswal from Odisha were honoured with the 'Pillars of IIMCAA Award'.
The winners of various jury awards were awarded prize money ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.50 lakh. Apart from 'Journalist of the Year' Sarvapriya Sangwan, Pallav Jain was named 'Agriculture Reporter of the Year', Sandeep Rajwade was named 'Reporter of the Year - Publishing', Ajatika Singh was named 'Reporter of the Year - Broadcasting', Harshita Rathore was named 'Producer of the Year', R. Samban was named 'Indian Language Reporter of the Year - Publishing', Anuj Kumar Das was named 'Indian Language Reporter of the Year - Broadcast', Pankaj Bora was named 'AD Person of the Year' and Ashish Shukla was named 'PR Person of the Year'. The 'PR Agency of the Year' award went to Avian WE and the 'Digital Agency of the Year' award went to Kaizen.
The event was presided over by IIMCAA President Simrat Gulati. IIMCAA Awards Auditor Rajesh Kalra, Coordinator Sneha Bhattacharya, General Secretary Diksha Saxena, Treasurer Animesh Biswas, Connections Meet key organiser Prem Prakash, Global Meet Convener Rajesh Kumar, Chapter Meet Convener Neeraj Bajpai, Silver Jubilee Batch Coordinator Arijit Banerjee and Souvenir Editor Sushil Singh also addressed the occasion.
The event was attended by former IIMCAA presidents Mukesh Kaushik, Suneela Dhar, Prasad Sanyal, Kalyan Ranjan, executive president Gayatri Shrivastava and senior journalists, PR experts and advertising professionals from across the country.
