DMCL appoints two new Independent Directors to board

Diligent Media Corporation Limited (DMCL), the company that operates the news channel DNA, has approved the appointment of two new independent directors during its board meeting held on May 28, 2025.

Based on the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the board has appointed Garima Bhardwaj and Amit Singhal as Additional Directors in the Independent Directors category. The appointments are subject to the approval of the company’s shareholders. This information was shared by DMCL in a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges.

Garima Bhardwaj has been appointed for her first five-year term as the company’s Independent Woman Director, effective from May 28, 2025, to May 27, 2030.

She is a seasoned legal professional with over two decades of experience across various areas of law including civil, criminal, arbitration, rent control, labor and industrial law, service law, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, and matrimonial law. Bhardwaj regularly practices in the Delhi High Court, Supreme Court, National Green Tribunal, and other tribunals.

She holds a B.Sc. (Honors) in Botany and an LL.B. from the University of Delhi, and has also earned a diploma in Court Management from National Law University, Delhi. She has been honored with the Leelavati Nanda Memorial Silver Medal for being the Best All-Round Student at Delhi University.

Amit Singhal has also been appointed as an Independent Director for a five-year term from May 28, 2025, to May 27, 2030, subject to shareholder approval.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Singhal brings 22 years of experience in tax consulting, transfer pricing, FEMA and RBI regulations, audit, business valuation, and tax litigation. He is recognized for his expertise in helping foreign companies establish operations in India, with a strong focus on compliance and tax planning. His professional footprint spans across sectors including banking, IT, telecom, logistics, and hospitality.

The company has also announced that the second tenure of independent directors Manoj Agrawal and Shilpi Asthana ended on May 28, 2025.
