Dainik Jagran launches coffee table book on renowned doctors

News and publishing house, Dainik Jagran launched a new coffee table book titled The Real Survivors. The book was released by Union Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla and features the stories of 11 renowned doctors from Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir.

This is the 18th in the line of Jagran Coffee Table Books.

Sharmishtha Sharma, author of The Real Survivors and Associate Editor, i next, said, “The Real Saviours takes the reader to ancient India, known for its alternative treatment options such as Yoga and Ayurveda. It traverses the entire development and growth paths to touch upon modern medicine modes. We have also talked about how medical tourism has come to stay. With the ancient principles that stayed intact, the combined look and feel of the Indian medical scenario gives an upbeat feel with unending possibilities and automatically makes the country a destination for people seeking to heal themselves.”

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Sampla termed doctors as a bridge between humans and God. “There are people in this profession who are there to only make money. This brings a bad name to the medical practice and practitioners. But most of them, including the distinguished doctors featured in the book are truly the real saviours and are the pious bridge between divinity and humanity. The real impact, however will come when we are able to spread word about the importance of hygiene and health. For this, all of us, including citizens, government, doctors and media should join hands for the betterment of the people who don’t have the resources by promoting and extending affordable medical facilities to them.”

Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh lauded the efforts of Jagran Prakashan Limited in bringing this issue to the fore, by felicitating doctors who have done tremendous work in this field.
