Srikant Sastri’s life has been many things, a mentor’s manual, an entrepreneur’s beacon, a policymaker’s north star, but above all, it has been a living testament to the power of purpose.

On this day, we pause not just to mark a birthday, but to honour a journey, an extraordinary arc that has bridged boardrooms and classrooms, startups and statecraft, science and soul.

Born with a curiosity that refused to sit still, Sastri began his early professional life amidst the structured corridors of corporate India. Yet even then, there was something quietly restless about him, a desire to not just work within systems, but to build new ones. That instinct soon found its true expression in entrepreneurship.

Across decades, Sastri would go on to co-found and scale multiple ventures across marketing, digital and consulting. But what set him apart was never just the success, it was his unwavering belief that knowledge, when democratized and nurtured, becomes the most powerful currency of progress.

Today, as a Board member of the Venture Center, Sastri sits at the confluence of science, technology, and innovation. Under his stewardship, the Pune-based incubator has become a cradle for deep-tech startups, life science breakthroughs, and future-facing entrepreneurs. Yet he wears this crown lightly, his leadership is not about control but cultivation, not about being in the spotlight but building a thousand more.

His journey, of course, cannot be contained within titles. He has served as Chairperson of the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, been an advisor to government initiatives like Startup India and AIM, and mentored hundreds of first-generation founders across Tier II and III towns of India.

But what truly defines Srikant Sastri is not the expanse of his resume, it’s the grace of his intent. Whether he’s guiding a nervous young founder through their first pitch, shaping national startup policy, or writing about India’s innovation landscape, his tone is always patient, always grounded, and always infused with possibility.
