Leo Burnett won 71 metals; in second place is McCann Worldgroup India, grabbing 56 metals. JWT India comes next with 48 metals
The Goafest Creative Abby 2013 was dominated by Leo Burnett this year. The agency took home a whooping 71 metals, including 9 Gold, 34 Silver and 28 Bronze. In second place is McCann Worldgroup India that entered the creative race bagging 56 metals, including 1 Grand Prix, 7 Gold, 15 Silver and 33 Bronze. JWT India occupied the third slot, grabbing 48 metals with 5 Gold, 17 Silver and 26 Bronze.
Despite several controversies, it is interesting to note that JWT India moved up the ladder from the sixth position last year.
There were 3 Grand Prix, 44 Gold, 157 Silver and 238 Bronze metals awarded this year.
The three Grand Prix awards were given to Grey Worldwide India, Interface Business Solution and McCann Worldgroup India. Grey Worldwide India got the Grand Prix in the Integrated category for Killer Jeans. The agency also won 7 Silver and 6 Bronze metals this year.
McCann Worldgroup India won the Grand Prix in the Print category for Active Total Security Systems and Interface Business Solution bagged a Grand Prix for Tata Docomo in the Digital category.
While talking about how the Creative Abbys 2013 were different from the previous years, Arvind Sharma, Chairman, Leo Burnett India and Sub continent said, “It certainly has to be an agency bagging a Grand Prix in Digital.”
He further explained, “In terms of Digital, we are under developed versus consumer behaviour; so, I’m really excited that there is a Grand Prix in Digital. It will encourage people who work in this domain to say ‘I can be recognised as the best creative person in the country, and not just some side department or agency’.”
In 2012, Leo Burnett India bagged 35 metals, occupying the third position and the second slot was taken by Taproot. However, Taproot pocketed 18 metals this year, including 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 13 Bronze, claiming fifth position.
In fourth place is ideas@work advertising, taking home 29 metals, including 1 Gold, 14 Silver and 14 Bronze. DDB Mudra Group took away 16 metals, including 1 Gold, 5 Silver and 10 Bronze, occupying the sixth place.
Rubbing shoulders with the biggies, the young guns at Scarecrow Communications won 13 metals, which includes 1 Gold, 8 Silver and 4 Bronze. Also, making a mark this year was Publicis Communications; it grabbed 12 metals, including 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 8 Bronze.
