S4 Capital’s MediaMonks merges with digital agency Firewood

Sir Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital has acquired digital agency Firewood for $150 million, as per media reports.

Firewood, established in 2010, will be merged with MediaMonks, S4 Capital’s digital global content practice.

Media reports quoting a press statement said the acquisition was meant to leverage S4’s digital capabilities to achieve “purely digital, first-party data-driven, faster, better and cheaper content and programmatic offer for clients worldwide, with a unitary business model."

Firewood’s clients include Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Salesforce and VMware.

Sir Martin Sorrell, Executive Chairman of S4 Capital, was quoted by media reports as saying: “This merger is a further step in creating a new era communications services leader… Firewood has an enviable client list comprising many of Silicon Valley’s finest; and we are delighted to welcome Juan, Lanya and their colleagues to the S4Capital family.”
Wesley ter Haar, Chief Operations Officer, MediaMonks, was also quoted as saying, “Firewood’s 'embedded' approach will allow us to build deeper and broader relationships with our clients, helping us work in a more flexible, collaborative and integrated way.”

As per media reports, on the acquisition, Lanya Zambrano, Founder & President of Firewood said: "We look forward to developing further a new, disruptive model in the communications industry with MediaMonks and S4Capital as further proof that diversity is an intrinsic part of our industry’s future.”
