Meta’s outgoing Chief Artificial Intelligence Scientist, Yann LeCun, has launched a new research organisation called Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI Labs). According to media reports, LeCun is in early talks to raise around €500 million for the start-up, which could be valued at approximately €3 billion ahead of its official launch.

As per reports, LeCun has approached Alex LeBrun, founder of French health technology firm Nabla, to lead the venture as chief executive.

LeCun is widely recognised as one of the pioneers of modern artificial intelligence, alongside Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio.

LeCun recently announced his departure from Meta on LinkedIn, ending a 12-year tenure that included five years as founding director of Facebook AI Research (FAIR) and seven years as Meta’s Chief AI Scientist.
