“I dream of a Digital India where government services are easily and efficiently available to citizens on mobile devices.”
These were the words of the Honourable Prime Minister of India when he addressed the Digital India summit in 2014 through a video conference.
Since then, India has come a long way in digital communications. One of the government’s initiatives—the Aadhar identity—is supposed to be a key pillar of ‘Digital India’. And now the government has launched the mAadhar app for Android users. Users can lock and unlock their biometric data along with the convenience of having the data on their phone wherever they go. The app also provides other features such as sharing the eKYC details with service providers and viewing or sharing the updated Aadhar profile via QR codes.
The mAadhar app isn’t the first such app launched by the Modi government. We scan the Play Store for other apps launched by the government and how they fare on the store.
