Technology magazine PC World has announced the winners of its second annual Net4 PC World Web Awards in its June 2008 issue. This year, 57 websites across 31 popular categories have been recognised for demonstrating excellence in the Internet domain. In addition to evaluating the websites for overall performance, they were recognised for best design and best technology usage.
This year, the PC World Web Awards have been sponsored by Net4 Ltd., one of India’s leading IP communication services and solutions companies. Commenting on this partnership, Jasjit Sawhney, CMD, Net4 India Ltd. said, “We are glad to be associated with the PC World Web Awards as it gives us the opportunity to reach out to our large customer base and prospective customers on a separate platform. Having been the leader in the web services space in India for many years, it’s also our way of recognising and awarding the innovations and creativity of hundreds of companies and individuals.”
Commenting on the Awards, Vijay Ramachandran, Editor-in-Chief, IDG India said, “This year, we have included 11 new categories of websites, thereby expanding the scope of the awards to provide comprehensive coverage of the best Indian websites and to reflect the growing role of the Internet in India.”
Louis D’Mello, President and CEO, IDG India, said, “PC World endeavours to deliver to its readers, reliable and timely information not only on technology products, but also on essential services, many of which are now driven online. With the Web Awards, we hope to establish a much-needed benchmark for web development in India, and recommend those that can bring great value to our readers.”
The best on the web were evaluated using parameters like content, structure and technology to arrive at the winners. Some of the new categories added this year include automobiles, health, taxation, tourism, parenting, NGOs, movie rentals, legal, and food & beverage. The new categories were added after feedback from the jury members, readers and the PC World editorial team. The list was filtered on the basis of preliminary evaluation of the sites to arrive at a final set of websites that were judged by a 14-member team comprising domain experts in the field of design, UI, security and technology. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
