Google has said it will restructure its government affairs and public policy function in India to bring in a distinct approach, media networks have reported quoting an email sent by Wilson White, Google Head of Govt Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP).

According to a report, the email talks of India's strategic importance for Google and YouTube and how it plays an important role in shaping the future of technology.

Wilson White has also spoken about creating a new Vice President-level role to lead GAPP in India.

The tech giant has also clarified that it does not intend to replicate this structure in other markets.

In an earlier development, Indian digital news publishers are exploring new strategies to host branded content after Google’s March 2024 "Core Updates and New Spam Policies" that banned indexing of paid content, product reviews, and coupon pages in SEO rankings.
