Gautam Chikermane has joined Reliance Industries as New Media Director. His association as Director with CARE India will continue. His last stint was with Hindustan Times as Executive Editor (Business).
Chikermane will look after the entire digital media wing of Reliance Industries.
Talking to exchange4media, he said, “It is a matter of great pride and privilege for me to join India’s largest company to roll out what I believe will be India’s largest media platform. The one thing that you can definitely expect from Reliance Industries is an unimaginable scale and solution to an unstated need of society - delivered to quick and perfect execution.”
Commenting on his association with CARE India, he said, “I continue to remain a director with CARE India. I enjoy working with not-for-profit organisations and I am delighted to enjoy support from my new employer and will continue to guide CARE India in its goal of empowering marginalised women.”
With more than 21 years of experience in the media industry, Chikermane is one of the prominent financial and political column writers. He started his career with Business Today as trainee reporter in 1992, evolving as Special Correspondent. He was elevated to Executive Editor of Outlook Money in March 1998. After six years with Outlook Money, he moved on to Financial Express in 2004 as Executive Editor. After a short stint of 10 months with Financial Express, he joined Indian Express as Editor, Special Projects, where he worked for three years.
