Vishal Jacob, Vice President for Digital Media and Marketing at Wavemaker India, quite understandably has a choc-o-bloc schedule on weekdays. One can only imagine the pressure he handles every single day working in the fast-paced digital space. But come weekend, and Jacob slips into the relaxation mode, spending time with wife & son and catching up on his hobbies of reading & music.

Taking his love for reading a step further, Jacob also turned author recently with a book on better living-- Connecting with yourself: Why we think, feel & act the way we do.

Read on to find out more about Jacob and his weekend indulgences:

On a typical weekend you will find me...

Entertaining or being entertained by my 7-year-old boy or discussing philosophy and life into the wee hours of the night with my wife and friends.

My idea of relaxing is...

Listening to some slow jazz music or songs from artists like Katie Melua, Norah Jones and George Ezra. Music is my recourse whether to wind down and relax or to perk up my mood!

One vice I cannot do without...

Beer and a good book. It’s a tie, so I must mention both!

A staycation I love …

Growing up in Goa, I have always found great joy by the beach and I tend to gravitate towards beach staycations. Visits with family to Bali, Perhentian Islands and the Phi Phi Islands have been some of the most memorable stays. My wife and I especially love the added atmosphere of live music at the beach side.

I confess…

I am a screen addict! I’d like to say it is because of my line of work in digital media and marketing, but I must admit that it isn’t entirely true.

I spend me-time…

Me-time is usually cozying up with a book, listening to jazz or strumming my trusted six strings.

The last show I binge watched…

Narcos and Game of Thrones

I can make a mean….…. to save my life...

Oh I can cook a really fabulous dinner, if you ask my wife. But naming the dish is always a problem, if you get what I mean. I guess the closest I can come to repeating my classics is a tangy Goan Fish Curry spiced to the gills!

My next vacation will be….

I have a large family and a large part of it is based in the US. My wife, kid and I tend to visit the States pretty often. Next on the cards is a visit to Miami and California early next year.

You recently wrote a book. If you have to describe it in one word, it would be…

A key takeaway from your book would be…

It is a book about better living so there are quite a few. If I have to pick one, it’d be about the need to focus more on intrinsic activities and goals, i.e. things done for one’s own pleasure, for the sheer joy that the activity gives us. The more we indulge in them, the more we become happy! For more updates, be socially connected with us on
