Why should you care about design?

The sixth edition of BW Businessworld’s Future of Design event in Mumbai, on 18 August 2025 , focuses on designing a better tomorrow. The conference looks at how design can play a role in changing human behaviour and developing sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis.

If Downton Abbey and Made in Heaven were to be made without the detail in costume and set design they probably wouldn’t have had the impact they did. Design is what makes ON running shoes so popular, and it is design that makes the Range Rover what it is. So, you see, the sneakers you wear, the car you drive and even the movies you like watching, everything is about design. It is no wonder that designers obsess over every little detail in their work. Just to give you an idea, according to industry reports, India’s product design and development services market is expected to have a revenue of US$2,713.9 million by 2030, and the interior design market US$81.2 billion by 2030.

Recognising the importance of design, BW Businessworld is proud to present edition six of the Future of Design Summit & Awards . Scheduled to take place on 18 August 2025 , in Mumbai, the summit focuses on design to help save the planet and build a better tomorrow . Design can play a role in changing human behaviour and developing sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of one of the biggest threats to humanity – the climate crisis and that is what the conference endeavours to spotlight.

The full-day conference will bring together leaders working towards building a sustainable future and enabling a better quality of life. Think circular economy, renewable materials, sustainable farming and several other methods. In addition to talks and presentations, the audience will be invited to immerse themselves in workshops and masterclasses. The day will close with the much-anticipated design awards.
