Dubai-based destination management company (DMC) Voyage 1 DMC LLC has acquired a 100% stake in South Africa-based World Wide African Tours, which operates under the safarisinbushes.com brand, as part of its global expansion strategy.
The acquisition will see the business rebranded as Voyage 1 Africa, strengthening the company's presence in the African tourism market and expanding its portfolio of experiential and luxury travel offerings.
As part of the transition, Shobhna Govan will continue to lead the business. Govan brings more than 20 years of experience in managing South African and African safari operations and will oversee the company's operations and partnerships across the region.
Commenting on the acquisition, Naveen Kundu, founder of Tourism Futures, said Africa presents significant opportunities in the experiential and luxury travel segments. He added that the acquisition would enable the company to deliver authentic and reliable safari experiences while leveraging Govan's extensive industry expertise.
